Not long ago, China Fiberglass Industry Association released the Report on the Economic Performance of China’s Fiberglass and Products Industry in 2020 (CFIA-2021 Report). The report summarized the development of China’s fiberglass reinforced composite products industry in 2020, and analyzed the industry development process behind the data.In 2020, China’s total output of glass fiber reinforced composite products will be about 5.1 million tons, up 14.6 percent year on year.The COVID-19 outbreak at the beginning of 2020 had a serious impact on the production enterprises of glass fiber reinforced composite products in terms of recruitment, transportation and procurement, and a large number of enterprises stopped production.In the second quarter, with the strong support of the central and local governments, most enterprises resumed production, but some smaller and weaker SMEs fell into hibernation, which further improved the degree of industrial concentration to a certain extent, and the order volume of “above the regulation” enterprises increased steadily.

Glass fiber reinforced thermosetting composite products: In 2020, the total output of glass fiber reinforced thermosetting composite products in China will be about 3.01 million tons, with a year-on-year growth of about 30.9%.Strong growth in the wind power market is the primary factor behind the rapid production growth.Under the influence of relevant policies such as the Notice on Improving the Policy on the Fee-in Tariff of Wind Power (Fagai Price [2019] No. 882), China’s newly installed wind power capacity will reach 71,670 MW in 2020, with a year-on-year growth rate of 178.7%!Wind power has become the most powerful driving force for the recovery and development of the fiberglass and fiberglass reinforced composite products market.In addition, in 2020, China’s investment in ecological protection and environmental governance will increase by 8.6% and that in water conservancy management by 4.5%, driving the output growth of winding pipes, desulfurization towers and other products.

 Glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite products: In 2020, the total output of glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite products in China will be about 2.09 million tons, down about 2.79% year-on-year.Due to the epidemic, the output of the automobile industry decreased by 2% year-on-year, especially the output of passenger vehicles decreased by 6.5%, which had a great impact on the decline of the output of short glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite products.The production process of long glass fiber and continuous glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite products is becoming more and more mature, and its performance advantages and market potential are being understood by more and more people, and it is being used more and more in the fields of logistics transportation, freight vehicles, construction, modern agriculture, animal husbandry and so on.
